This is a piece I submitted for a show at The Encaustic Art Institute in Cerillos, New Mexico. The show is very special to me as it is a memorial to 9.11. I was a United Airlines flight attendant at that time, life changed for everyone. This piece takes me back to Boston City Square Plaza where the United and American employees had a memorial service to honor the victims. During which Bette Midler sang the "The Wind Beneath My Wings"....white doves were let go to remember the employees. Which is how this piece came about, peace to the victims and their families.

I was fortunate to be part of a project for Habitat for Humanity which was spear headed by Anne Schmidt, Cari Hernandez and Rodney Thompson. This collaborative piece included 32 artists, all working on 12"x12" panels designed by Rodney. The finished piece is 48" x 96" and spelled out the word HARMONY. We had a palette of Green Gold, Indian Yellow, Raw Umber and Titanium White.

Littleton New Hampshire Studio School Workshop

I had this painting sitting in my studio and it needed to be reworked. I decided to experiment with some oil bars and boost the color! It was fun.....I just played with the oil bars, it brought back memories of coloring with my crayola crayons!
Unfortunately, there is a bit of a glare. But I wanted to get this posted because I will not be going to my studio at Twin for a while. I am getting a new knee on Tuesday!

I was excited to watch a demo at the encaustic conference on encaustic monotypes. So excited I bought the HOT BOX and DVD from Paula Roland to do my monotypes. This is one of the first and I have always wanted to achieve the loose, sumi like mark making in my prints.

I have been itching to paint lately with oils....so I finally worked on a sketch I had sitting on my easel. I had made this sketch while my husband and I were driving to the ski house. My goal in my painting is to keep it simple with clean colors....
It seems the colors in the photo are not quite as saturated as the painting, I do try to get the colors true to the work. Any suggestions?

I worked yesterday in the studio on the 3 small paintings....I was struggling a bit( I do not think working small is for me). I could not decide on the orientation of this piece....I like the vertical....my husband likes horizontal, go figure! I then decided to just let loose and for all green!
